Michael Gross and The Statuettes - Impulse & Exports - to be released in January of 2010

Michael Gross and The Statuettes are an American Indie Rock/Pop band from Salt Lake City, Utah that formed in the summer of 2008.

From 2003-2007, Michael Gross was the guitarist and one of the singer/songwriters in the band The Brobecks. After his departure from that band and a stint in a band called Lets Become Actors, Michael recorded his first solo album in the spring of 2008 entitled "Tales From a Country Home.” A short time later, Michael formed a full band around this project. The Statuettes were born.

Michael Gross and The Statuettes released their debut EP “Dust & Daylight” in June of 2009. It was met with much success and received healthy praise and great reviews on national music blogs and web pages. The Salt Lake City Weekly described “Dust and Daylight” as “twangy pop that has a slightly uneasy tone beneath the jingle jangle flow."

With their follow up six-song EP entitled “Impulse & Exports” (to be released in January of 2010), the band replaced the alt-twang sound found on their previous EP with reverb soaked guitars, and sweeping synthesizers that fit nicely into a moody pop/rock package. 2010 hopes to be a good year for the band, as they plan to tour, write and record new music, and continue expanding their fan base in a variety of ways.

Gorevette Drops "Lustfully Yours" MP3 and Video

Some things are just meant to be. When the legendary Nikki Corvette arrived with equally revered rock critic Robert Matheu at a Gore Gore Girls show in Los Angeles, he instinctively knew that she and bandleader Amy Gore would be natural compatriots. Both women have toured the world, rejecting trends and gimmickry to play the authentic, powerful rock n’ roll they’ve made their religion. They became friends that night, not industry associates but real pals. When Corvette relocated to her native Detroit for family reasons, she and Gore began to spend time together, spending hours talking about music while hanging out by the record player. With members of each woman’s bands in different cities, they originally conceived the idea of doing a punk cover band, playing their favorite songs from bands like the Buzzcocks and the Damned. That soon changed when Nikki brought her tune “Lustfully Yours” to the table. Amy Gore, a formidable guitarist and writer, began writing songs specifically for Nikki that carry on the ‘Shangri-Las meets Ramones’ v sound she is famous for while incorporating lyrics rejecting the artificiality of current feminine ideals (“Fake It”) and making stand for the hedonistic fun of dancing, cars and staying up all night. “Rock n’ roll, above all else, should be fun,” said Gore.

The new tracks are compiled for The Lustfully Yours EP on Strange Girl Recordings, available Tuesday, January 26th on itunes USA and Internationally, Rhapsody, Napster, eMusic, IMVU, LimeWire Store, Amazon MP3 & Amazon on Demand.

2009 Suburban Sprawl Music Holiday Compilation

Hello!

Every year, us folks at Suburban Sprawl Music put together a holiday compilation all in the name of good times. The comp is available for free download, and as a free limited edition CD available at Suburban Sprawl events in December. We've been doing this since 2002, with the comp growing in quality and quantity each year. Obviously, we have the holidays on lock.

This year we had some great new contributors (Scott Masson from Office, Willie Wisely), while the old holiday comp "regulars" (Andrew Dost of Fun, The entire Suburban Sprawl crew) stepped up to the plate as well.

2009's edition (along with every edition since 2002) is available here:

Gidgets Ga Ga - Big Bong Fiasco - Now Avialable

The word ‘pop’ is heard a lot in the music business. It is used to describe so many different kinds of artists that the true meaning of the word becomes unclear. “Pop” means “popular” ultimately and there is only one reason why any music becomes popular and that is because that music makes a true connection with its audience.
Chicago band GIDGETS GAGA is better than most at makin
g this connection. Their sound is a heady mix of all that has come before and all that is yet to be. Echoes of classic British Invasion pop, Nirvana, and The Replacements can be detected, along with the bands’ own take on what it takes to make a 3-minute song matter. They are about punk rock energy and timeless pop melodicism. They are new yet instantly familiar in that “this is my new favorite song” kind of way that true fans live for.
They have spread their word from every major stage in Chicago and are poised to break out to the world at large. They are running on drive, heart, and a belief in their own destiny. Soon, the world may find itself destined to hear GIDGETS GAGA blasting out over the airwaves and taking their rightful place amongst the most popular acts in rock and roll.

The Injured Parties - Fun With A Purpose - Now Avialable

I've got a soft spot for noisy power-pop, and 'Fun With A Purpose' pulled me right in away. 'American Comfort' starts the album incredibly well, you can't help but tap your toes, nod your head and wave your arms around and it doesn't let up either. Essentially no filler on this album and every song is better than the previous song. For those that like their Power Pop crunchy with just the right amount of jangle, this is for you!! This is "Highly" recommended 5 Stars - Curty Ray, Power Pop Overdose

The Revellions - The Revellions

The Revellions were forged amidst a haze of frustration and red neon lights in the early days of 2006. Coming from the dark, dank caverns of the Dublin garage underground they juggled about with a lineup and soon met wailing blues singer Ali Moore. With influences from the likes of Dick Dale, The Ventures and the Chocolate Watchband, they combine the raw sound of a garage band in heat with a smooth surf atmosphere. The band's made up of a pounding rythem section, a sharp but yet moody organ and a frontman/guitarist who shoots out daunting riffs like early morning target practice! "Take one look at the cover and it tells you everything you need to know, right? What they're going for, right? It's got the look of a new garage punk album. They make a racket - sure nuff. It's all 100mph, face stretchin', howlin' rock 'n' roll. They've made a record that has song titles like 'Ain't No Fool', 'Telling Lies' and 'Down On Your Luck'. Like any good garage band, they've been shat on, spat at, rejected by a gal and generally become disaffected by the entire world, channelled through fuzz geetar and call and response vocals! Old garage punk long players never look like new ones, despite the various band's best intentions. They proudly show off their Vox teardrop guitars, Farfisas and bowl haircuts!" - ElectricRoulette.com
